Mr. Ruschhaupt is currently the Associate Director of Bands at Vista Ridge. His teaching duties include direction of the Marching Band and conducting the Symphonic Band. He was previously an Assistant Director of Bands at Running Brushy Middle School, also in the Leander ISD.
During his tenure at Vista Ridge, the band has had much success. Under the direction of Mr. Ruschhaupt, the Symphonic Band has been a consistent U.I.L. sweepstakes and “Best in Class” recipient. In 2007, the Vista Ridge Marching Band finished tied for sixth place in the 4A State Marching Band Contest in only its 5th year of existence. In 2008, in its first year of competing in 5A, Vista Ridge advanced to the State Marching Contest once again and placed 20th.
Mr. Ruschhaupt is a graduate of Stroman High School (Victoria, Texas). He was inspired to be a band director through his directors’ passion for music and excellence. Universities Mr. Ruschhaupt attended were the University of Texas and Texas State University. His ensemble experience includes: 5A Texas All State Band, Victoria Symphony, Longhorn Band, UT Symphony Band, Texas State Wind Ensemble, and the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Ruschhaupt is married to his high school band sweetheart Jennifer, who was a percussionist. They have two beautiful children, Aubrey and Garrett, who love to conduct along with their dad at band concerts.
Mr. Ruschhaupt holds a bachelors degree in Secondary Music Education from Texas State University and his professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi Band Fraternity.
